Description

Ordered in May, delivered in August, but needed accessories that finally are available.  My experience with this scope is very positive.  I did have to learn how to use OAG which proved to be another time consuming learning experience.  Data for this image was taken from my backyard over 3 nights.  I binned at 2x2, based on a suggestion, with the ASI2600MM camera. This is an SHO image which I tried to give a natural feel to it.

  Sii 64 x 300sec; Ha 110 x 300; Oiii 64 x 300.

What I've learned so far:
- Not difficult to focus and find alignment stars.
- A bit of a challenge to focus and then find guiding stars with the OAG, but got it now.
- Guiding error is about the same as what I was getting using a guide scope meaning between 0.6 and 0.3 RMS.
- Good detail compared to my WO 102GT refractor, but not as much as expected with over twice the focal length.  Guess that shows how good the glass is in the 102.
- I have to learn more about binning.  Files are one quarter the size at 2x2!  Faster processing in Pix with smaller files.
(I will try 1x1 soon to see the difference, but will be slightly oversampled.  Will this give me more detail?)
- Good stars, no issues.  Was told I'd have issues with the stars compared to my refractor.
- Glad I didn't get the 11" as this is big and heavy enough for an old guy to lift.
- I need to figure a travel container with this thing!
- I'm looking forward to going deep into nebula star forming regions and the next galaxy season!
